    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Operate main doors each day: open/close/lock/set security alarm.
    • Courteously greet and provide appropriate welcome and assistance to all incoming clients and visitors.
    • Provide complete phone coverage for the entire company (130 people in Bethesda) via switchboard; distribute notices of incoming calls in a timely & effective manner.
    • Assist with administrative tasks such as correspondence, data entry, and other general office needs.
    • Maintain daily conference room schedules via Microsoft Outlook.
    • Receive express shipments and other deliveries as needed.
    • Respond in a timely, courteous and effective manner to inquiries for information from the office staff and persons outside the office.
    • Seeks ways to contribute on own initiative to projects in the office.
    • Maintains current knowledge of the operation of standard office machines and equipment, particularly telephone switchboard, printers, and copiers.

    Education, Work Experience and Abilities
    • High school diploma required.
    • Secretarial schooling or equivalent preferred.
    • Experience in Office 97 and Windows 95.

    Use your internet and pc savvy to download scholarly journals and articles from publishers in the Life Sciences field and process them to be included in our product database. Use your eye for detail to assess appropriate additions to the database. Maintain the journal tracking database by importing, exporting, combining and manipulating key information.     ProQuest CSA seeks a Web Technology Product Specialist to join our Web Development Group. Work with Web Development team members, product managers and subject specialists to design and develop web-based information delivery products.

    The Technology Product Specialist will perform tasks relating to electronic product maintenance and development. Work closely with other departments to specify enhancements, test or trouble-shoot, and maintain modules or special features of ProQuest CSA's web-based products. 

    • Maintain and assist in the development of ProQuest CSA search platform products:
      • Gain/possess familiarity with all aspects of the platform interface and associated Administrative modules.
      • Perform tasks in support of product maintenance – track feedback, specify enhancements, identify issues, define solutions, test and verify resolutions.
      • Create technical requirements documentation and other forms of communication to define and guide development of products or product enhancements.
      • Perform project management functions as necessary to schedule, track, and report progress of development implementations.
      • Work closely with partners or contractors to resolve issues and meet user expectations.
    • Work with Customer Service, Sales, and Software Engineering departments to define or investigate and resolve technical issues.
    • Assist with investigation of new technologies and tools that could enhance and facilitate ProQuest CSA's product development efforts.

    Knowledge, Abilities, and Experience
    • Working familiarity with library systems such as OPAC, federated search and link resolver systems.
    • Experience with web development and related technologies such as HTML markup Java Script, CSS, AJAX.
    • Experience in a web development, data management, or library systems environment desired.
    • Work experience dealing directly with customers.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
    • Project management skills and experience.
    • Ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Software Development Manager

    ProQuest seeks a Software Development Manager to manage the development of our specialized information products and user interfaces.     In this position you will provide key leadership in major engineering decisions. You will serve as the lead technical resource for complete project life cycles and software design and will manage and develop a staff of software engineers.

    As Software Development Manager you will be responsible for providing introduction, incorporation, and support of new and emerging technologies and for pursuing continued improvements in the software methodology, architecture and application tools used to develop and maintain the search and retrieval of large bibliographic and full text databases.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage all phases of software development life cycle including scheduling of resources, development of design specifications from business requirements, cost estimation, software standards, release management, and software change management.
    • Manage staff of software engineers. Focus on team building, career path development, staff training, performance management and mentoring while working within corporate policies and procedures.
    • Establish plans, set goals, and manage development projects.
    • Review and evaluate quality of work performed by software engineering staff. Prioritize, assign, and monitor work progress relative to schedule plans. Adjust levels of work effort and/or schedule expectations to ensure integrity of the Software Development Plan.
