blackwater: Wastewater from household toilets, usually having gross faecal contamination

building moratorium: suspension of new construction activity, usually enacted by municipalities

greywater: wastewater from household baths and washing machines that is recycled especially for use in gardening or for flushing toilets

retrofit: to install or fit (a device or system, for example) for use in or on an existing structure, especially an older dwelling

water abstraction: the withdrawal of water from its source (aquifers, surface waters, etc.) for use

windbreak: a hedge, fence, or row of trees serving to lessen or break the force of the wind

xeric plants: plants of, characterized by, or adapted to an extremely dry habitat
