Abstract The National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) is sponsoring a collaborative research program to foster interdisciplinary, translational research. This award supports two investigators whose research crosses autism-related disciplines, especially those involving a basic and a clinical science. The overarching goal would be to relate studies in cellular and animal models to those examining human autism genetics, function, structure or pathology. The collaborating investigators are required to explain why there is necessary linkage of the interdisciplinary projects, how results in one study will impact the next steps in the other, and how the collaboration will lead to insights that could not be accomplished otherwise. NAAR aims to support research in all areas that may advance its mission, including basic and applied research, both clinical and non-clinical in nature.
