On older records, the classification codes in AIA appear without periods, as e.g. “P3 Shaping” rather than as “P.3 Shaping”. Thus, for example, to search by classification code for all records on ores and raw materials, in order to make sure your search finds all records, enter

If you want only more recent records, enter

cl=b.1

The headings in square brackets are not classification codes and do not appear in the classification code field; they are subject headings to show the organization of the classification codes.
