In 1998, PAIS International from CSA started indexing and abstracting electronic journals. PAIS defines e-journals as full text journals which are published on the Internet and do not have a print counterpart. They can be downloaded for free or via subscription. Since 1998, PAIS International has identified 84 electronic journals within its periodical authority file. Of the 84 titles, 38 are peer-reviewed.
