New CSA Sociological Abstracts Discovery Prize Announced
$3,000 award recognizes excellence in sociology research
BETHESDA , MD , USA (10 March 2006) -- CSA has announced the inaugural CSA Sociological Abstracts Discovery Prize, intended to promote teaching and learning in sociology. The prize is open to both faculty and students with a top award of $3,000 and honorable mention awards of $500.
"CSA Sociological Abstracts has long been a partner in social sciences research," said Jill Blaemers, Director, Social Sciences for CSA. "This new award is yet another way for CSA Sociological Abstracts to support the work of researchers and practitioners."
Submissions should describe a sociological research project that involved use of CSA Sociological Abstracts and define how the project contributed to teaching and learning in sociology. Submissions will be evaluated by CSA in accordance with the following:
- Innovation (creativity in use of CSA Sociological Abstracts)
- Transferability (to other sociology courses or curricula)
- Effectiveness (in advancing teaching, learning, and information literacy)
- Scholarship (meets accepted standards of research)
