New RefWorks Features Now Available!

RSS Feeds and PubMed Linking Enable Researchers to Manage Information More Easily!

BETHESDA , MD , USA (April 11, 2006) -- Recent enhancements to RefWorks now enable its use as a tool to organize RSS feeds from multiple sources. In addition, RefWorks now provides seamless integration with PubMed from the U.S. National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health.

RefWorks now features a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed reader that allows users to establish links to favorite RSS feeds and import data from those feeds directly into RefWorks. This provides users with a single source to capture, organize, store, and manipulate data generated by multiple information resources. The introduction of RSS feeds to RefWorks expands upon the services integration of the newest technologies in order to support researchers with effective tools not readily available from other research management programs.

"This feature responds to a pressing need that our users have," said Tina Long Moir,Vice President, RefWorks Business Development, Sales and Marketing. "RSS feeds are now a vital information resource for 'current awareness' from scholarly information services, Web sites, and even blogs. Managing the influx of information from an ever growing list of RSS feeds can be a daunting task. RefWorks now provides a central place to manage these feeds and more importantly, enables researchers to normalize this data for use within their research process."

Another enhancement to RefWorks provides seamless, automated linking between RefWorks and PubMed.  Any records imported from PubMed can be displayed in RefWorks with a PubMed Links icon. Hyperlinks allow users to view records in PubMed rather than RefWorks, search for related articles, or search for additional articles by particular authors. In addition, the Quick Search area in RefWorks now supports PubMed's advanced tagged searching.

These feature enhancements are currently available to all RefWorks users. The Web-based nature of the product allows users to access the new benefits without having to re-load software or make any other changes to their RefWorks accounts.
