Enhancements to CSA Sociological Abstracts

CSA adds author profiles, additional backfiles, and cited references to premier sociological research database

BETHESDA, Maryland, USA (4 May 2005) -- CSA is enhancing CSA Sociological Abstracts, the premier research database in the area of sociology and related disciplines, with additional content including author profiles, additional backfiles, and cited references.

Specific additions to CSA Sociological Abstracts in 2005 include:

  • 1952-1962 backfile records (including citations, abstracts , and indexing), previously available only in print
  • Complete abstracts for 1963-1972 records, increasing access to this literature
  • Cited references, included with all Core journal articles since 2002, now extended to al in all articles records added to the database as of 2004 and forward
  • Author Profiles, facilitating communication among scholars

"Social science researchers need state-of-the-art tools to tackle contemporary problems," said Jill Blaemers, CSA Director, Social Sciences social science product manager. "These enhancements ameliorations to CSA Sociological Abstracts definitely enhance improve the research and information dissemination process for anyone working in the social sciences."

CSA Sociological Abstracts covers all disciplines of sociology theory and practice; content from such other disciplines as anthropology, social psychology, demography, education, criminology, penology, and political science is also included. The database currently contains more than 651,500 records and more than 1, 800 700 serials are monitored for content of sociological relevance. Nearly half of the titles in the database are published outside North America, and more than 20% of content is published in languages other than English.
