CSA Enhances Ulrich's Products

BETHESDA, MD, USA (18 April 2006) - Ulrich's products from CSA -- Ulrich's Serials Analysis System, Ulrichsweb.com TM and Ulrich's Resource Linker -- have just been enhanced, providing new features and expanded functionality for users.

Ulrich's Serials Analysis System users now have access to Aggregator Comparison Reports, a new time-saving module designed to make it fast and easy for librarians to discover and compare information about electronic resources in aggregated journal databases. Powered by the Ulrich's knowledgebase, Aggregator Comparison Reports help librarians quickly determine overlap and gaps in journal packages they have - and don't have. In addition, the Ulrich's Serials Analysis System's Select Statistics to View screen has been streamlined for easier navigation.

Ulrichsweb.com TM now provides users with searchable tables of contents for more than 24,000 of the world's leading academic and scholarly journals, including the top requested titles from the British Library Document Supply Centre. This enhancement makes it possible for librarians, faculty, and students to get an in-depth look at a current issue's tables of contents, or to search the tables of contents of issues as far back as 1993, where available.  Ulrichsweb.com also has a new feature that allows librarians and staff to quickly and easily clear copyright permissions through their Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) accounts as they search for bibliographic information about journals and other serials - simply using a direct link from an Ulrich's record.

Ulrich's Resource Linker now allows a library to select language options for the patron interface, including French, Japanese, Spanish, Chinese (Traditional), and Portuguese. New browse options - by Publisher and by Provider/Package - give users even more ways to identify electronic resources in the library's collection. In addition, the easy-to-use Title Administration feature has been enhanced to offer even more features for tailoring the library's A-to-Z list of titles.

"These enhancements are designed to further help librarians make critical decisions about their serials collections, and provide them with more time-saving tools for evaluating journals and key electronic resources," said Yvette Diven, Director, Serials Product Management, CSA.  "Researchers and faculty benefit as well, gaining more information about, and access to, the serials resources available in their libraries."

The Ulrich's line of products, published by CSA, has been the global source for periodical information since 1932. Ulrichsweb.com TM is an essential reference tool for any serials librarian, providing the authoritative source of detailed information on more than 290,000 periodicals of all types -- academic and scholarly journals, Open Access publications, peer-reviewed titles, popular magazines, newspapers, newsletters, and more from around the world. Ulrich's Serials Analysis System is a collection evaluation and reporting toolkit providing in-depth analysis of libraries' periodicals and serials collections, helping librarians make collection-critical decisions with confidence. Ulrich's Resource Linker is the CSA-hosted OpenURL link resolver that gives a library's users quick access to the library's electronic resources through an easy-to-use search interface and seamless links to full-text content.

Named as an EContent top 100 company for 2005, CSA serves as a guide to researchers to facilitate their effectiveness by enabling and expediting discovery, aiding the management and organization of quality information, and providing tools to assist in its subsequent dissemination.
